Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has provided people with greater ease in accessing and disseminating information. However, this advancement has also given rise to various challenges, such as the spread of hoaxes, disinformation, slander, and the decline of ethical behavior in digital media usage. These conditions require individuals to possess strong digital literacy skills and a critical attitude in receiving and sharing information. From an Islamic perspective, the concept of tabayyun as stated in Surah Al-Hujurat verse 6 serves as an important guideline for verifying information in order to avoid mistakes, prejudice, and the negative consequences of spreading false news. This study aims to analyze the concept of tabayyun from the perspective of Ulumul Qur'an and examine its relevance to strengthening digital literacy in the modern era. This study employs a library research method with a qualitative-descriptive approach. The research data were obtained from the Qur'an, Qur'anic exegesis (tafsir) books, books on Ulumul Qur'an, scientific journals, and various literature related to tabayyun and digital literacy. Data were collected through documentation studies, while data analysis was conducted using content analysis to explore the meaning and relevance of the concept of tabayyun within the context of contemporary information technology developments. The findings reveal that tabayyun is a principle of information verification in the Qur'an that emphasizes caution, accuracy, and responsibility in receiving and disseminating information. The study of Ulumul Qur'an indicates that Surah Al-Hujurat verse 6 has strong relevance to modern information challenges, particularly in addressing the spread of hoaxes, disinformation, and unverified information. The implementation of tabayyun is reflected in practices such as verifying information sources, assessing media credibility, ensuring data accuracy, and avoiding blind acceptance of viral news. Furthermore, the concept of tabayyun contributes to the development of digital character based on the values of honesty, trustworthiness, responsibility, and wisdom in media usage.Based on the findings, it can be concluded that digital literacy grounded in the principle of tabayyun can serve as an effective solution to various information-related challenges in the digital era. The application of tabayyun values not only helps reduce the spread of hoaxes but also enhances media ethics and fosters a digital culture that is critical, responsible, and aligned with Islamic values
